Bobby Christopher Lee is an entrepreneur best known as the founder of BTCC, China's first cryptocurrency exchange.[1] Lee sold BTCC in 2018 and now runs a startup called Ballet that creates bitcoin wallets.[2] He serves on the board of directors of the Bitcoin Foundation.[citation needed]

Early life[]

Lee was born in the Ivory Coast,[3] and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from Stanford University in 1998.[4]

Lee was an engineer at Yahoo[3] before becoming Walmart's vice president of technology in China.[citation needed] He became interested in bitcoin through his brother Charlie Lee,[4] the creator of litecoin.[5] Lee was a co-founder of BTCC.[6] In early November 2013, BTCC became the largest bitcoin exchange in the world, with a market share of about 31.7 percent, surpassing Tokyo-based Mt. Gox.[6]
